Design Notes:
This form literally came in a dream. Turning a dream wave into a three dimensional concept required working the proportions,curves and joints of the object until it became "frozen movement".
The result is a harmonious, realistic blend of all it's surfaces.
We liked the results so much we gave it four ottomans so friends could sit and share the breaking waves.
Construction Notes:
The metal skin of this piece was hand cut, beaten, rolled made fit and soldered,first to its inner support structure and then to each other at the joints which are soldered and polished to a smooth edge.
Breaking Wave, as well as its ottomans which were similarly manufactured, received three coats of zinc chromate base
for anti-rust protection prior to finishing in hand washed blue tone using fine automotive paint.
