Gazelle Cocktail Table

The design intent of this domoesticated Gazelle, like with her smaller three-legged version, is to allow you to infuse the energy of her naturally wild spirit into your home
In spite of its recent design, the Gazelle’s animal roots imprint the piece with their ancient legacy. The subdued realistic stripes in her leg rings reinforce her ancestry.
Construction Notes:
Unlike in the her three legged cousin, the robust legs in this cocktail table closely imitate the significant muscle mass of the superfast Gazelle. As such each of the legs is hand carved.
The animal stripes in the leg rings is achieved by first staining the rings with a yellowish tint and then over painting them with the table's color except where we want the stripes to show.
The piece requires considerable manual carving to give the surface of the piece an uninterrupted flow. This characteristic can be pleasantly confirmed by gently running your hand over all its components. For example the top which, after being secured to the legs with dowels, is sanded until, like the animal which served as its inspiration, becomes one continuous surface .
