Metal Shards Mirror
With its cone- shaped medieval nails this mirror for some, congers up the process to temper
one’s soul. Just as steel is tempered we become more balanced by choosing the middle path
between the extremes of action. The round shape of the mirror may invoke to some
the journey through life to come full circle.
A excellent addition to any room. For example in the dinning room or at the end of a well
light hall or centered above a foyer table.
Design Notes:
All damsels in distress long to be saved by a prince in shining armor while,
at the same time, longing for self sufficient independence.
This perennial dichotomy prompted the design.
The round shape frame emulates a lifesaver.
The cone-shaped medieval nails symbolize the wounds of life.
Yet, the distribution of the shards in a crown
symbolize our triumph in life. Because at the end,
when the independence illusion is transcended,
we are all winners.
Construction Notes:
This piece comes in two versions. One has a wood frame, the other is all metal. In both cases the thorns are metal. These “shards” in turn are one piece except when they are driven thru the frame
when they are made of two, perfectly aligned parts. In both versions the nails are given a rusty finish.
