How to Properly Maintain your Furniture-ART-Furniture WOOD Pieces.
Because your Furniture-ART-Furniture pieces are made from fine woods they require attention and care to maintain their beauty over time. With time and proper care, your Furniture-ART-Furniture pieces will become even more beautiful and increasingly cherished.
Direct sunlight is the enemy of fine dry woods. Avoid placing your wood furniture in direct sunlight.
Cleaning and Waxing
The quality of the air in your vicinity determines the frequency your wood table surfaces require cleaning to prevent noticeable accumulation of dust. The best dusters are 100% cotton rags. Sweep softly following the direction of the wood’s grain.
Wax the top every four to six months immediately after dusting it.
First take a clean cotton rag, fold it in half and lightly dab it with aerosol wax. Use the unwaxed half of the rag to cover the waxed side and start gently rubbing the table’s surface in the direction of the grain. You will note the wax percolates thru the textile rag into the wood surface. Continue rubbing until the table’s surface is evenly waxed.
Then take a new clean cotton rag and remove the excess wax again working with the direction of the grain. Using both sides of the rag continue polishing in the direction of the grain until you achieve an even sheen.
Giving your tables such care will accelerate the development of a deeper glow.
Protect the wood surfaces of your wood pieces with protective table pads or place-mats when:
- utilizing extremely hot utensils or dishes,
- eating, working, placing clocks, telephones, radios, or any other objects or writing on thin paper over the surface of furniture.
Do Not’s
- use detergents or chemical cleaners on your furniture this may damage the finish,
- pour polish directly on the pieces,
- place heavy objects or table pads on freshly polished furniture surfaces,
- place plastic or vinyl tablecloths on the furniture,
- use polish remover, hair spray, alcohol or perfume near the furniture,
- place rubber or plastic products on the furniture’s surface,
- use products containing silicone on the furniture,
- expose the furniture to strong sunlight, which may cause discoloration,
- expose the furniture to extreme hot, cold, rain, humidity or salinity,
- wet mop near the legs of the furniture or leave surfaces wet with beads of water standing.
How to Properly Maintain your Furniture-ART-Furniture METAL Pieces
All our metal furnishings are hand forged using steel and other classic metals. All the pieces are given three coats of zinc chromate anti rust primer on all its surfaces prior to final painting for which, again, we use anti rust products.
All our pieces are designed and built for use exclusively in interior spaces. Our lifetime guarantee does not cover metal furnishings which are used in exteriors. We strongly recommend those owners of Furniture-ART-Furniture pieces who, in spite of voiding our lifetime guarantee wish to place their pieces in exteriors, to repaint their exposed pieces with rust inhibiting paints twice a year in locations near the sea shore or with salty-air conditions and once a year otherwise.
